However, specific number of genetic anomalies have been associated with infertility in both male and female. The various causes of genetic infertility include

  • Single gene disorders
  • Chromosomal abnormalities

Moreover, some of the genetic factors influence male and females as well as specifically male.

In the female : 45 XO Turner syndrome is a case, where the ovaries are not developed but the rest of the genitalia is developed.

Single gene disorders are seen at times.

In men: 47 XXY; Y Chromosomal deletion.

Developmental anomalies

In females, Mullerian Agenesis leads to the absence of the uterus. During development if the septum between the 2 horns of the uterus not fused, it leads to bicarnate uterus, septate uterus, subseptate uterus and arcuate uterus.
